Stake Holders

New Brighton, Southshore, South New Brighton, and Waimairi Beach resident associations:

These groups ensure connections and communication with people who live in specific areas ofGreater New Brighton. In an emergency, they help each other by sharing important information and supporting their neighbours.

Renew Brighton:

Coordinates and ensures that the Community Emergency response plan is updated every year, connects stakeholders, and ensures that Greater New Brighton residents are educated about the potential risks and take steps to be prepared.

The Hubs:

These are community centers or gathering places where people can go for help during emergencies. They provide information, resources, and support to those in need, acting as a central point for assistance.

The CCC Civil Defence team:

The Christchurch City Council coordinates Christchurch citywide or Canterbury region rescue efforts, provides emergency services, and coordination from the designated Civil Defence Centres. (Refer to the CCC presentation about CDC and Civil Defence team.)

Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board:

The Community Board is a group of local representatives elected to look after the interests of the community. During emergencies, the Community Board will work with residents and authorities to address concerns, allocate resources, and make decisions that benefit the community’s resilience.
